  • POUCH Happening | MatchMakers | Anaheim

heart on neck guitars and strings on the grass

Who would have thought that Pouch Self Storage – Anaheim was a place to meet singles? Last week, one of our tenants was unloading his belongings onto one of our carts from his truck. A few seconds later, another truck pulled up into the other loading zone and a young woman got out. She came in to grab a cart and began unloading too. At the same moment, both noticed each other had placed a guitar on their own carts. They paused for a moment and smiled, acknowledging each’s musical instrument. They then resumed unloading their vehicles. Both pushed their carts to our lifts and pressed the down buttons to return them to the ground floor. As they waited, they looked at each other again, smiled and then introduced themselves. The conversation immediately started about the guitars. They were momentarily interrupted when the lifts reached the bottom. They simultaneously pushed their loads into the lifts, closed the doors and sent them upstairs. They walked up the stairs together.

A short period of time later, they both came downstairs together, returned our carts and gave us back the keys. They walked out outside and talked for a little while. Soon, they shook hands and smiled, then they left. Yesterday, the man came in to go in his unit. He said, “ I just need to get my guitar.” As I handed him his key I asked about how his conversation went with the other guitar player from last week. He grinned and said, “ We started dating!”

  • POUCH Happening | Guardians of 6th Street

This last week goes to show we are more than just a storage facility, we are also known as the guardians of  6th street here in Tustin.
Well this is what happened: we got this phone call from one of the home owners saying she was going to the hospital and could we go over and make sure her side gate was locked. She said she didn’t want her dog running the streets of Tustin. Well after going over and checking on her gate and dog, all was fine. So not only are your belongings safe, but the neighborhood is well looked after. We like to also report that our neighbor and her dog are just fine.

So this is Tustin saying nothing is safer then when it is stored here and so is the neighborhood.

  • POUCH Happening | Free Shredding Day

On Saturday, September 6th Free Shredding Day it was more successful this year than last year.  We had many calls prior to shred day asking about the free shredding.  On the day itself, we had many people come down from around the area including the horse stables.

  • POUCH Happening | Number 1 Choice

Today’s happenings are about a past tenant. While doing some local marketing I ran into a past tenant. The past tenant has a new business. I was able to remember him. I re-introduced myself and he remembered me too. We chatted for a short while. Then I mentioned about why I was there. He thought about what I was telling him about renting storage for his extra inventory. But at this time not needed. But he did enjoy his stay with us when he was a tenant. He said if he ever needed storage again we would be his first choice.

  • Factors to Consider When Deciding Which Items to Store

When you run out of space, or begin a move and choose a storage facility, you’ll be presented with the opportunity to clear out some of your clutter.  However, it can be difficult to decide which items are clutter and which items should be kept. Here are a few factors to consider when deciding which items to store.

    this one, or?

    Frequency of Use
Consider how often you use something when you are deciding whether to store it or give it away. If you have not used an item in many months, you are probably unlikely to use it again, unless of course it’s a seasonal item. Discard items you are unlikely to use instead of keeping them in  your storage unit .

    Current Value
Regardless of how much you initially paid for something, think about what it means to you right now. If you are holding on to something because it was expensive when you bought it, you may be keeping it for the wrong reasons.  If it does not mean anything to you today, it could simply be taking up space and causing clutter. You have already purchased the item, but you can possibly save yourself some stress by doing away with it if it no longer has any personal value. You can try selling or donating it.

    Purpose
Consider the purpose of an item when you are deciding whether or not it will go into storage. Tools that serve multiple purposes help to avoid the buildup of clutter in your living space by reducing your need for additional items. Additionally, outdated items that are no longer efficient should be discarded rather than stored.

  • POUCH Happening | Pitter Patter of Hail

In the Midwest they’re called ‘summer showers’ , but hail in August ? It had to be 95 degrees that day, and muggy. We thought it was more like earthquake weather. In one direction clear blue skies, and then. . . what’s that pitter patter on the roof?

  • POUCH Happening | Free Dumping Service

We had some comments from our tenants regarding a vehicle parked next to our small entry gate.  But the best comment came from a tenant who was dropping off his RV after a week long trip.  He called earlier that he needed the RV washing station and also requested that he has to empty out his RV as well.  Right before he arrived a septic service truck parked at the washing station. Both the tenant and the driver came in the office to check in.  The tenant’s comment was, “can it pump my RV directly instead of dumping it.  The driver overheard him and said, you can for $300. He then said, that’s why I rent my space here, it’s free.  The driver said, then you wait because my time is not free. I told him, well, our dumping service is free but pumping it out is not.  He just smiled and said, he is satisfied with the convenience of our free dumping service even if he has to wait.

  • POUCH Happening | Finding New Friends

A tenant came in dressed up as if he’s going to a safari trip.  So I asked him, what the occasion was, why he dressed up special.  Then, I asked him about his hat.  It had a lot of medals pinned on it. He said that he was a war veteran and said the pins were the merits he received during the war.  While he was talking, another tenant came in wearing a veteran hat as well and overheard our conversation.  Then, both of them started talking, laughed and at one time almost cried reminiscing the past.  They both left having found a new friend and knowing that they stored at the right place.
